1.  Lakota – $750

2007 Seal Bay gelding         Unknown x Sioux

Lakota was an unexpected addition when we purchased the mare Sioux. He was born on4-23-2007.Lakota is halter trained, stands for anything we ask of him, and trailers well.He is a timid horse though, and needs a person who can understand him. With a little patience, he can become a great horse. He has 3 good gaits, and the conformation to go either English or Western, and be successful in either.

2.  Lira – $3500

2001 Bay mare, unregistered, 14.3 hands.

Lira is an exceptional mare, with floating gaits, and a pocket pony type personality.  She is not for the inexperienced rider.   Very gentle on the ground, she can be quick to spook under saddle.  She was an accidental breeding, out of a thoroughbred mare, by the neighbor’s Arabian stallion.

Awaiting AWS inspections to receive her registration, this little mare would make an exceptional dressage or hunter mount for a smaller rider.

3.  Cayenne – $1400

2005 AQHA bay mare, 13.2 hands

Cayenne is a bombproof pony.  Orphaned at 2 days old, and brought to SHP to be raised, Cayenne believes that she’s more human the horse.  She would gladly walk inside the house if we’d let her, and often does play in the yard with the dogs.  Some days I think that this horse never learned to spook.  Coming 3, Cayenne will be started under saddle this summer.  She is a very social horse, and will require a lot of interaction from her people.

4.  Maximum Attitude – $2500

2006 grey gelding, AWS eligible.

Max lost his mother to colic when he was 14 days old.  An interesting cross of ¼ Percheron, 1/16 Clydesdale, and 5/8ths Thoroughbred, this sweet gelding does not live up to his name.  He has enough bone to stay sound but light enough to look like a warmblood.  Max was “adopted” by Lira and raised alongside Rorschachs Melody.  He should mature to near 16 hands (Dam was 16.0 hands, sire was 16.1 hands tall) and has already started his longe line training. He is well on his way to becoming someone’s sport horse prospect, and will be started under saddle in early 2009.

5.  Titan – $1700

1996 Chestnut OTTB Gelding, 17 hands

Titan has been there, and done that.  He raced for 8 years, and when he retired, he started work as a jumping lesson horse.  He does have soundness issues, so has been “retired” to flat work.  He has an alpha type personality, but is not the type to start fights.  Titan has 3 correct gaits, and is very manageable under saddle.  He has been trail ridden on busy roads, with trucks rattling past, and dogs barking at his heels, and never shown a problem.

6.  Rorschachs Melody – $5000

2006 Chestnut blanket APSHA filly

Melody has a perfect mix of both her parents.  From her sire’s shoulder, to her mother’s lofty gaits, we’re very proud of this little girl.  She is expected to mature to 15.1 hands, so would make a perfect horse for someone that isn’t looking to ride a monster.  Melody enjoys her lunge lessons, and stands for anything we ask, including body clipping.  Her colour always catches people’s attention, but it’s her sweet and quiet nature that    makes this little girl a truly amazing horse.

7.  Quaker – $3200

1998 Dunalino AQHA gelding, 14.2 hands

Quaker has been used by Spotted Horse Productions as a lesson horse, teaching beginning riders.  He is safe, sound, and sweet for any rider.  Trained to ride both English and western, he’s also a perfect trail mount.  Unfortunately, Quaker suffered uveitis, and had his right eye removed.  He doesn’t seem to mind at all though, he just expects his rider to be his eyes.  Very trusting by nature, Quaker is the perfect child’s, husband, or beginner’s horse.
